Luigi Amati (Italian Business Angels Network)

Chairman
As an Angel Investor he is one of the nine founders of Italian Angels for Growth, one of the fastest growing business angels groups in Europe, with more than 130 members (www.italianangels.net). As an early stage fund manager, he is the Chairman of META Ventures, an investment company with over 100 ml€ euro under management, of which over 60 ml€ have already been invested in more than 60 companies (www.meta-group.com).  Finally, as co-founder and CEO of META, a company focused on innovation, entrepreneurship and finance he has since 1993 lead the development of the company from a local boutique to an international firm working with International Institutions, such as the European Commission, the World Bank, the Interamerican Development Bank etc.. During the early years of his career he was a researcher and software engineer in the field of Computational Mechanics working with a spin-off of Imperial College (www.lusas.com) and a number of Italian Research Institutions. He holds an Engineering Degree Summa cum Laude from the University of Rome, a Master of Science and a Diplome from Imperial College London.​
 

Philippe Gluntz (France Angels)

Honorary Chairman and Board Member
Philippe Gluntz, a French citizen, is graduated from Ivy League , "Great Schools": "Ecole Polytechnique”( Maths-Physics )  and "Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées”( Civil Engineering). He also graduated from "l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris" in Economics and Political Science, and holds a PhD in Management from Vanderbilt University (USA). Philippe Gluntz has spent his whole professional life as CEO and COO of major Software and Telecom Companies (Alcatel Group, Cap Gemini Group, ADP Group) and is now ,since 12 years ,  a serial Business Angel, European Business Angel of the year 2012,  and as such Chairman and Board Member of several NTIC and Logistic companies. He is also involved in the Venture Capital market, as Board member , on top of his academic teaching. He spends a significant part of his time now as  Executive Vice-President , past President of the French Federation of Business Angels  and early stage Funds (France Angels), as Board member, Past President – Founder of Paris Business Angels, one of the largest French Business Angels Network and as President - Founder of BAE, the Confederation  of European Business Angels, from 2013 to 2017.
 

Dr. Ute Guenther (Business Angels Netzwerk Deutschland)

Studies in Philosophy, Romance languages and Education. Since 1980, Dr. Günther is active in research and teaching, especially at the universities of Bochum, Essen, Trier and Vallendar. Parallel she is managing mainly regional infrastructure projects. Since 1999 she is executive board member of Business Angels Agency Ruhr e.V. and since 2001 executive board of Business Angels Network Germany e.V. (BAND), the umbrella organisation of the German Business Angels Networks. Additionally Dr. Günther is Director of the company Startbahn MedEcon Ruhr GmbH, Managing Board Member of pro Ruhrgebiet e.V. and since 2013 she is Vice President of Business Angels Europe (BAE). In 2013 she was appointed to be member of the Advisory board "Young digital economy" at the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
 

Drs. René Reijtenbagh (Business Angels Netwerk Netherlands)

René Reijtenbagh is senior business angels network manager at the Development Agency East Netherlands (Oost NV). There he founded “”Masters of the Future”” the BA network for the Eastern part of the Netherlands. He has a lot of experience in business angels deal flow. He is elected board member of the Dutch Federation of BA networks and vice president of Business Angels Europe (BAE) responsible for the Cross border Cooperation initiatives. René studied Economic Geography at the Radboud University of Nijmegen and Business Administration at the TSM Business school in Enschede also in the Neterlands.

 

Reginald Vossen (Belgian Business Angels Network)

holds two Master’s Degrees in Applied Economic Sciences (Commercial and Financial Sciences, Commercial and Consular Sciences – International Marketing). As Chief of Staff of the provincial economic executive of the Belgian province of Limburg, he was founding secretary of the Limburg BAN in 1999. He became manager of this network at the end of 2000. Since the merger of 4 Flemish BANs into BAN Vlaanderen vzw in 2004, he is the general manager of this network of about 225 BA’s active throughout entire Belgium, with focus on the Flemish region. Over the last years, BAN Vlaanderen yearly generated about 25 investment-deals out of 110 companies introduced.


Jenny Tooth (UK Business Angels Association)

 Jenny Tooth is the CEO of the UK Business Angels Association which has superseded the British Business Angels Association, the trade body for angel and early stage investing. Jenny has been providing strategic support to BBAA since its establishment in 2004, supporting both policy and interfacing with Government, as well as developing the trade body’s major annual events. She has operated a wide range of investment readiness programmes, including projects supported by national and EU funding. She has also participated in a number of expert groups on access to finance and chaired the EC Knowledge Intensive Services group under DG Enterprise. She has also been a frequent judge at business plan competitions and acted as an assessor for the Technology Strategy Board for innovation grant applications.


João Trigo da Roza (Portuguese Business Angels Association)

João Trigo da Roza, has more than 25 years of business experience and  is president of Portuguese Business Angel Association and founder of  Toplever Business Consultants. Born in Lisbon in 1959, graduated Civil Engineering in 1982, M. Sc. in Structural Engineering in 1986 at IST (Lisbon), MBA at Universidade  Nova de Lisboa and post graduated in European Economics in 1989 at UCP. He  performed an Executive Program for Growing companies at Stanford Business School in  and Private Equity Program of Harvard Business School . As business angel Joao is partner of an investment company, Brains2Market, investing on start-ups on different fields like web applications and services. As executive Joao was CEO of Portugal Telecom Multimedia.com , CEO of  Telepac (ISP), Chairman of  Sapo portal, board member o PT Ventures. Joao also served as Board Member of Expo Urbe, the company that was  in charge of the urban development project associated with the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition. As a consultant Joao was  Vice-President and Country Manager of AT Kearney, focusing on telecom and banking, strategy and organization and manager at McKinsey & Company where he participated in several projects such as the corporate strategy and design of multibusiness companies. Joao is also  Professor of Entrepreneurship at Universidade Catolica Portugues and a regular collaborator of  several media and  commentator at TV programs on economics and politics.


Bernd Litzka (Austrian Business Angels Federation)

With his technical expertise and commercial back ground Bernd Litzka has developed several patented innovations in the US and Europe. He has already commercialized his own patents successfully to national and international investors. Bernd holds a PhD in Economic Scienses (Commercialisation of high tech startups) and he currently also teaches as lector at several Austrian Universities. Bernd Litzka is program manager at the Federal Austrian Development Bank – AWS.  He applies his practical knowledge and personal experience to improve the Austrian Business Angels Network & Federation (ABAF) and the national matching service i2 Business Angels Austria as well as the Austrian compartment of the EIF Business Angels Co-Investment Fund.​​


José Herrera (Spanish Association of Business Angels Netowrks)

José Herrera has been the President of AEBAN – the Spanish Association of Business Angel Networks – since 2015 and has extensive experience as a business angel. He is a partner at the law firm H.F Legal, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions, as well as a member of IESE Business School Business Angel Network.  José Herrera holds a degree in Law and a Master’s in Economics from the University of Barcelona.



Independent Board Members

Jacek Blonski

Jacek Błoński is a Partner of the Zernike Meta – Ventures Ingenium Poland Fund and also serves as Independent Board Member at the Business Angels Europe (The European Confederation for Angel Investing). From 2007 to 2012 Jacek was a CEO of Lewiatan Business Angels – the largest Business Angels Network in Poland.Prior to Lewiatan Business Angels, Jacek worked as Consultant in Simon Kucher and Partners – global consulting firm specializing in product pricing; Analyst at Enterprise Investors Corporation - leading PE/VC Fund in the Central and Eastern Europe and as a Head of Product and Price Planning in BMW Group (Warsaw, Poland and Munich, Germany) being responsible for BMW and MINI range. Jacek Błoński is an alumni of IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain where he finished Advanced Management Program, alumni of the Singularity University in California, USA and also holds Master Degree in Financial Management from the Higher School of Business – National-Louis University in Nowy Sacz, Poland.
 

Claire Munck

Claire is Chief Executive Officer and Director at Be Angels, a 15-year old business angel group based in belgium for the French-speaking part of the country and one of Europe's largest and most active. Her key responsibilities include business development, recruitment of new investors, deal making, and the management of a women angel group she created last year as a subsidiary of Be Angels. Munck previously collaborated with Go Beyond, a cross-border platform of services for early stage investors, on business development (international angel training activities) and product development (investor groups) activities. She launched an investor group in Belgium for Be Angels in collaboration with Go Beyond and is an active member and administrator of the latter. In 2013, Claire joined the Board of Business Angels Europe, Europe's confederation of angel investing gathering Europe's strongest national federations of angel groups. Claire spent close to 10 years with EBAN, the European Trade Association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and other market players, including 5 years as Managing Director from 2006 to 2011. She was also manager of the WBAA - World Business Angels Association - from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, Munck was project manager for EURADA - European Association of Regional Development Agencies - one of the founding members of EBAN.

Emma Fau

Emma is a consultant with over 18 years of professional experience in Brussels, with 12 years experience in carrying out political advocacy work on behalf of the private equity and venture capital industry before the EU Institutions. Prior to joining the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA), Emma worked for over three years at the Spanish bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya-Argentaria (BBVA), dealing with the financial management of European funds, following up EU public tenders and advising the bank and main clients on EU budget lines, grants and subsidies of interest for them in a wide variety of sectors. Emma is member of several European Commission Expert Groups such as “Horizon 2020 Access to risk finance”, “FICOMPASS” and “Investment Readiness of SMEs”. Areas of expertise include SME policy, entrepreneurship, access to finance, private equity and venture capital, EU funds and programmes, research and innovation. Over her career Emma has developed a strong knowledge of the EU Institutions, and a large network of investors. Emma graduated from University of Zaragoza with a degree in law and afterwards obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at the European University in Brussels.
